In a significant step towards the establishment of the Bangsamoro Science High School, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized and conducted the Contextualization Framework Workshop for BSHS.

Held at Paragon Hotel, Cotabato City on March 25, 2024, the activity aimed to develop a curriculum that would address the needs and aspirations of Bangsamoro learners. MOST, as the focal point in the establishment of BSHS, pursued the customization of the curriculum based on the cultural, societal, and regional contexts of the Bangsamoro.

Present at the activity were the MOST Top Management Committee and other officials. It was also attended by participants from the education sector, namely, Mr. Edman Gallamaso, Philippine Science High School – SOCCSKSARGEN Campus Director, Mr. Yul Adlefo Olaya, Chief of MBHTE Curriculum and Instruction Division, Mr. Abdulbasit Talicop, and Welma Vertido, both Education Program Specialist II.

MOST Minister Engr. Aida Silongan, MAPDS, expressed positivity for the output and outcome of the activity, encouraging the body for their active participation in contextualizing the framework for BSHS. The workshop’s output serves as a guide in crafting the BSHS curriculum, providing educators with the flexibility, creativity, and direction needed to deliver excellent learning experiences for the students.

Furthermore, the workshop conducted serves as a key step towards realizing the vision of an education system not only imparting knowledge but also nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and compassion, empowering every student to realize their full potential in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) contributing meaningfully to their communities and beyond. This envisions a BSHS graduate equipped with the right formula of knowledge, skills, and values to succeed in life and in the hereafter while remaining deeply rooted in their Bangsamoro identity and heritage.
