The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology participated in the opening program of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day (BFD) on January 23, 2024, in the island province of Basilan and handed over various S & T projects. The event took place at Sitio Bakisung, Barangay Cambug, Municipality of Al-Barka.

The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) spearheaded the event, led by Minister Atty. Sha Elijah B. Dumama-Alba. It also saw the presence of members from the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament, local chief executives in the province, and other key officials of the Bangsamoro.

During the event, the ministry delivered significant projects, such as STARBOOKS, a digital library, and science laboratory apparatuses, to representatives from schools. The 1st batch of BASE-Merit received Android tablets to support their science education studies. The turnover of Early Warning Systems to LGUs was also conducted. Moreover, MOST provided processing equipment for beneficiaries enrolled in its programs, namely Technology Transfer and Commercialization and Special Development Fund Programs.

Furthermore, the ministry also extended its efforts to turn over various projects in other provinces of the Bangsamoro Region. Looking ahead, on January 25, 2024, MOST will lead the celebration of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day in North Cotabato – Special Geographic Area at the Municipality of Pikit, where several projects will be turned over.

Furthermore, beneficiaries and students expressed gratitude for the projects received and hope for a more prosperous future for the Bangsamoro.
