mote the importance of earthquake drills and enhance employee disaster preparedness, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) conducted an Orientation on Earthquake Safety, Response, and Other Disaster Preparedness.

Held at the MOST Regional Office on September 11, 2024, the orientation includes participation from all employees—permanent, co-terminus, contract of service, and provincial staff.

Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim gave the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of the orientation.

“This is a very helpful endeavor, and we should learn from it and apply these lessons when disasters occur,” the Director-General said.

Pursuant to NDRRMC Memorandum No. 013, series of 2024, all employees are encouraged to participate in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), held quarterly.

The third NSED will take place on September 12, 2024, with employees practicing the “drop, cover, and hold on” technique when the siren sounds.

This initiative is crucial in ensuring employee preparedness, safety, and response in the event of an earthquake and other disasters.

Furthermore, the orientation was led by the ministry’s Advanced Science and Technology Division and featured resource speaker from the Bureau of Fire Protection – BARMM and his team, who also highlighted the importance and application of fire preparedness.
