COTABATO CITY — Twelve (12) Bangsamoro Standards Halal Testing Laboratories (BSHTL) personnel underwent Internal Audit for Laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) and Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Training Workshop at the Ministry of Science and Technology’s BSHTL Building on June 7-10, 2022.

Different laboratory sections such as Microbiology, Physico-Chemistry, Halal Verification, and Metrology Laboratories participated in the training.

The four-day activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the laboratory personnel in Internal Quality Auditing and understanding of cause analysis and corrective actions in the laboratory.

MOST-BSHTL also capacitates personnel to conform to the International Organization of Standardization requirements and would generally operate according to ISO principles. It is to ensure personnel could also perform an internal audit as part of the laboratory management system to establish conformity.

Josefina Barahan, Registered Chemist and a Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) Assessor, shared comprehensive knowledge and information on internal auditing and other corrective actions as a resource person.

Furthermore, it is an activity to learn and apply remedial measures, mandatory procedures, and ways to eliminate some causes of non-conformity as part of the Quality Management System in laboratories.

MOST-BSHTL is applying for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, and this undertaking would prepare them continuously achieve quality laboratory services adhering to regulatory and statutory requirements and conforming to international standards.
