Taguig City, Philippines — The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology, led by Minister Aida Silongan, MAPDS, paid a courtesy visit to the DOST Secretary Dr. Renato Solidum, Jr. on November 22, 2022, at the Department of Science and Technology – Central Office in this city.

From November 22 to 25, 2022, MOST conducted a benchmarking activity to different DOST-attached agencies. It is also to find collaborations, acquire ideas and practices from DOST, and strengthen ties to support science, technology, and innovation in the Bangsamoro region.

Other MOST top officials in attendance were Deputy Minister Edsel Mohammad Jilhano, Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim, Research and Development Services (RDS) Director Nasrodin A. Buisan, Technical Management and Operation Services (TMOS) Director Nasrodin U. Buisan, division chiefs, section heads, and other MOST employees.

Present in DOST were Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, Undersecretary for Research and Development, Dr. Leah J. Buendia, Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services, Ms. Maridon O. Sahagun, Assistant Secretary for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Dr. Diana L. Ignacio and other DOST officials and staff.

In the benchmarking activity, MOST officials visited the DOST-ITDI’s Halal R&D Facility, Simulation Packaging Testing Laboratory (SPTL), Green Packaging Laboratory (GPL), ITDI Packaging Technology Division, Philippine Textiles Research Institute, and many more.

Furthermore, during the Innovation Dialogues 9 of the 2022 Philippine Textile Congress, MOST were welcomed. DOST-PTRI and MOST-BARMM discussed the potential collaborations between both organizations to support the handloom weaving sector and the textile fiber producers in BARMM.

MOST conferred collaboration and partnerships with DOST to strengthen STI in the Bangsamoro region.
