The Bangsamoro Science and Technology Ministry, led by Minister Engr. Aida Silongan, MAPDS, a strong advocate for moral governance in the region, initiated Fiscal Year 2024 by organizing a symposium for its employees to instill moral values and promote good work ethics.

The event, held at the MOST Regional Office on January 4, 2024, was attended by officials from regional to provincial offices.

During the opening program, Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim expressed gratitude with the ministry’s commitment to instilling moral values through symposiums and halakat (study circle), aiming to revitalize the faith of each employee and apply the learnings to day-to-day work operations.

Under the topic “Leading with Excellence: Islamic Insights for Transformative Leadership,” Ustadz Saadawi Said Mamaluba, the Resource Speaker, MSU Instructor, MOH Consultant, emphasized the importance of excellence in becoming a transformative leader, emphasizing the implementation of a strategic plan and other effective methods based on the teachings of Islam. He also highlighted the need to balance life and leadership, adopting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by allocating time for worship, family, community affairs, and personal development.

Ustadz Saadawi concluded by encouraging everyone to dedicate their best efforts to become transformative leaders, emphasizing that the ultimate goals are to serve Allah (SWT) and attain excellence in leadership.

In her closing message, Ramla Bituanan-Lantong, Chief Administrative Officer, emotionally encouraged employees to practice what they had learned and remain committed to upholding moral governance in all endeavors. She challenged them to become transformative leaders in their own ways and to commit to upholding moral governance.

The monthly symposium and weekly halakat are part of the values transformation programs under the IBAADAH Program of the Office of BDG, regularly conducted since FY 2022 and will continue to the present. They are facilitated by Prof. Hashim Manticayan, Executive Assistant III.

Furthermore, the ministry has championed its initiatives by allocating time for words of wisdom in every opening program conducted.

MOST strengthens its efforts and initiatives in transforming human resources into more efficient and effective civil servants through the infusion of moral values they can apply to their work and personal lives.
