Cotabato City, BARMM – The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) is gearing up for the highly anticipated 2024 Bangsamoro Science and Technology Week (BSTW), scheduled to take place from October 16 to 17. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Harnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation: Unlocking Bangsamoro’s Potential for Sustainable Development,” emphasizing the crucial role of science, technology, and innovation in driving the Bangsamoro region’s sustainable development.

The two-day event will showcase a variety of scientific, technological, and innovative endeavors, including keynote addresses from national and regional officials, launching activities, technology forums, seminars, exhibits, and presentations of inventions. These initiatives are designed to equip individuals and communities with valuable skills and knowledge in their respective fields and engage students, entrepreneurs, and professionals alike.

MOST will also hold an oath-taking ceremony and distribute checks to BASE and BASE-Merit grantees, as well as host the 4th BARMM Health Research and Development Forum, the Bangsamoro Region-Wide Science Olympiad, and the Oath-Taking of Newly Hired MOST Employees and Bangsamoro Science High School Teachers. The event will also culminate with recognition and awarding ceremonies.

Minister Engr. Aida M. Silongan, MAPDS, and Dr. Sema G. Dilna, President of Cotabato State University, together with other BARMM and MOST officials, will lead the opening ceremonies, which are expected to attract participants from various sectors, including the academe, micro, small, and medium enterprises, students, private industries, and the public.

Minister Silongan expressed the ministry’s excitement for the upcoming celebration, stating, “This year’s BSTW will serve as a platform to showcase science, technology, and innovation that can drive the Bangsamoro region towards greater progress. We are committed to supporting and empowering local MSMEs, inventors, innovators, researchers, students, and scientists to continue making impactful contributions to our community.”

The ministry is confident that the 2024 BSTW will not only celebrate scientific achievements but also serve as a catalyst for driving innovation and progress across BARMM.
