In a significant effort to improve and ensure compliance among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with good manufacturing practices, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology evaluated eight (8) cooperatives in Lanao Del Sur Province.

From April 22 to 26, 2024, the team facilitated the assessment of the cooperatives’ current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and site validation. This assessment aims to determine the cooperatives’ preparedness for FDA-LTO application. MOST offered technical assistance and consultancy services to address technical challenges, enhance capabilities, and achieve desired outcomes.

The following MSMEs underwent CGMP assessment:

  1. Marhaba Marketing Cooperative – Crunchy Peanut Making
  2. Mamaan Bangsamoro Farm Producer Cooperative – Cassava Crackers Making
  3. Ikram Agriculture Cooperative – Mushroom Crackers Making
  4. Kapai Mustaqbal Women’s Consumer Cooperative – Ginger Tea Making
  5. Ditsaan Ramain Islamic Service Cooperative – Maranao Delicacies
  6. Pindolonan Women’s Producer Cooperative – Native Coffee Making
  7. Min-Ranao Halal Spices Producer Cooperative – Palapa Spices Making
  8. Jamaatus Shabbatil Muta-Alimmat (JSM) Mindanao Women Services – Ginger, Turmeric, and Coffee Mix Making

The CGMP assessment is essential for food manufacturers, as compliance ensures adherence to good manufacturing practices and the production of safe food products.

The assessment included regulatory standard assessment, documentation review, physical inspection, hygiene practices, sanitation procedures, quality control, employee training, and other evaluation activities for food production assessment. This effort is crucial for MSMEs’ improvement to ensure the safety and quality of food products.

Furthermore, MOST also evaluated the beneficiaries of its partnership with Oxfam Pilipinas Women’s Economic Empowerment for Leadership in Development and Peace in Bangsamoro – whose main goal is to enhance the development of Halal Women Enterprises and Agri-value Chain in the Bangsamoro Region.
