In the ongoing week-long celebration of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day, thousands of Bangsamoros in North Cotabato – Special Geographic Area attended and participated in the 2024 BFD led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, along with Members of the Parliament, other ministries, and offices.
Taking place in the Gymnasium of the Municipality of Pikit on January 25, 2024, various S & T interventions, as well as projects from other ministries, offices, and MPs, were delivered to the Bangsamoro in the area. MOST handed over STARBOOKS, a digital library, Android tablets for the BASE-Merit grantees, turnover of Early Warning Systems (EWS), science laboratory apparatus, and processing equipment.
Together with MOST, the Ministry of Social Services and Development – BARMM distributed welfare goods and bags. Project TABANG (Tulong Alay para sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan) handed over medicines, rice, and sardine food packs. Additionally, the 8 Special Geographic Area Development Authority (SGADA) MPs distributed rice and other interventions in the morning.
In the afternoon, a kandulang was held in the gymnasium, followed by the distribution of other services from MSSD-BARMM, Project TABANG, 8 SGADA MPs, and services from the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE) such as Application for Reintegration Program for Overseas Bangsamoro Workers (OBWs), Application for Assistance Program for Repatriated Abused OBWs, Registration of Establishments, and Registration of Workers Association.
To mention, the 8 SGADA MPs delivered services such as MP Kadil Sinolinding, who provided free eye screening with free reading glasses and National ID registration, MP Mohammad Kelie Antao provided rice for Bangsamoro widows, malong for balo, MP Ali Salik provided free haircut, flowing coffee, and standby ambulance, MP Akmad Abas Al-Haj provided native delicacies and tinapa, MP Silongan provided legal services, and standby ambulance, MP Abdullah Hashim also provided a standby ambulance, photobooth, Islamic reading leaflets, free printing services, and free ice cream and cotton candies for children.
Bearing the theme ‘A Journey Towards Mutual Understanding, Peaceful Coexistence, and a Shared Future in the Bangsamoro,’ the celebration marks the 5th year since the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The involvement of ministries and offices underscores their commitment to the region’s progress and development.
