The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has recently clinched the Top 1 spot in the GADsaligan Award, granted by the Bangsamoro Women’s Commission (BWC) during the two-day 2024 Bangsamoro Women’s Summit held at SMX Lanang, Davao City.
As part of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), under the initiative “Advancing Women, Peace, and Security: Empowering Women to Sustain Peace and Resilience in the Bangsamoro,” BWC recognized the exceptional contributions of ministries, offices, and agencies (MOAs) to gender and development (GAD) initiatives. The award highlighted the vital role of MOAs in promoting gender equality and empowering women across the Bangsamoro region.
MOST achieved the highest utilization rate for GAD programs, with an impressive 32.72%, followed by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (19.68%), the Office of the Chief Minister (16.72%), the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (16.36%), the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (15.88%), the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (13.18%), the Ministry of Public Works (11.01%), the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (9.87%), the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (8.95%), and the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (8.75%).
Hamira Almula, Administrative Officer III and GAD Focal Person, received the award on behalf of MOST and pledged to continuously uphold and strengthen the ministry’s initiatives on gender and development.
MOST has successfully integrated GAD programs and initiatives into its Science and Technology Services and Scholarships and Grants Programs. These efforts are dedicated to ensuring the promotion of gender equality and empowerment among women in the Bangsamoro region.
The ministry proudly upholds its commitment to being “Gadsaligan,” a Maguindanaon term meaning “trusted,” in implementing impactful GAD programs and initiatives for the benefit of the Bangsamoro people.
