TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT TURNOVER

Cotabato City, BARMM – The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology continues to uplift women’s livelihoods through its Women Empowerment through Science and Technology (WEST) program. From November 25 to 28, 2024, MOST-BARMM organized a Technology Training on Coffee Processing (Roasting and Grinding) at Barangay Tamontaka II, Cotabato City, benefiting the Women Organization of Mamalo Descendants (WORMD) and the Indigenous Women Resource Center (IWRC).

The program also included the turnover of coffee processing machines and equipment worth PHP 800,000, further enabling beneficiaries from North Upi and South Upi, Maguindanao, to enhance the quality of their coffee products and improve market competitiveness.

Experts from Sultan Kudarat Coffee Ventures Incorporated facilitated the training, focusing on proper coffee roasting and grinding techniques, marketing strategies, and financial management. This hands-on approach aimed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to scale up their businesses.

The turnover of state-of-the-art coffee roasting and packaging equipment ensures that the participants have the necessary tools to implement what they learned and improve production efficiency.

The initiative was implemented in partnership with the Office of MP Mary Ann M. Arnado through the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF). The program emphasizes the role of science and technology in fostering inclusive economic growth and empowering women in the Bangsamoro region.

Participants expressed their gratitude for the support and training, emphasizing the positive impact of the initiative on their livelihoods.

Through the WEST program, MOST-BARMM continues to support local communities by enhancing their productivity and competitiveness. This initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to utilizing science and technology for sustainable development in the Bangsamoro region.
