The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), through its Special Project Management Office (SPMO) and the Office of MP Atty. Rasol Mitmug, turned over P800,000 worth of processing equipment to the Kamapiyaan sa Tagoranao Kakaw Meranaw Cooperative, a group of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Municipality of Bayang, Lanao del Sur.

The turnover activity, held on November 19-21, 2024, was part of MOST’s Women Empowerment through Science and Technology (WEST) project. This initiative aims to empower Bangsamoro women by equipping them with livelihood opportunities through the adoption of technology, ensuring a faster and more efficient supply of products. The cooperative specializes in cacao and chocolate processing.

As part of the project, SPMO also facilitated a technology training session to provide cooperative members with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate the processing equipment effectively.

“We are grateful to the BARMM leadership, MOST, and MP Mitmug for the machines and training provided,” expressed one of the cooperative’s members.

The WEST initiative is a flagship program of MOST, implemented in coordination with members of the Bangsamoro Parliament through the Transitional Development Impact Fund

(TDIF).
