Basilan, BARMM – Fifty-five official grantees of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) and Merit Scholarship Programs in this province took their oaths and received cash grants on November 6, 2024.
The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology, through the initiative of its Science Education, Scholarships, and Grants Division and the Provincial S&T Center in Basilan, facilitated the event to support the educational needs of student scholars.
A total of 28 BASE and 27 Merit scholars participated in the oath-taking ceremony at the Basilan State College Amphitheater.
Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim, PME, MERIE, led the oath-taking, joined by Supervising Science Research Specialist (SRS) Alimudin Kandang, PhD, Senior SRS Engr. Shariff Molzir Ampatuan Bernan, and PSTC Basilan Head Arfie Edris.
In his message to the grantees, BDG Abdulrakman encouraged them to stay focused, excel in their academic pursuits, and contribute meaningfully to the science, technology, and innovation growth of the Bangsamoro region.
Dr. Kandang reminded the grantees of the importance of timely submission of academic requirements each semester to avoid delays in receiving allowances. He also urged the scholars to aim high and study diligently to realize the potential of Bangsamoro youth in shaping a brighter future.
