The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) recently held an oath-taking ceremony on October 27, 2024 for 55 new scholars in Lanao del Sur Province, including 28 recipients of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) grant and 27 recipients of the BASE-Merit grant.
In his opening remarks, Engr. Alinader A. Sarangani, MOST’s Lanao del Sur Provincial Head, emphasized the exceptional performance of the province’s applicants, noting that all 55 grantees ranked among the top candidates in the region.
The oath-taking was led by MOST Deputy Minister Prof. Hashim B. Manticayan, who also served as the event’s keynote speaker. Prof. Manticayan expressed his optimism that the scholars supported by MOST-BARMM’s unique educational initiatives will soon drive positive change in the Bangsamoro region through their contributions in science and technology.
Following the oath-taking, the scholars received their award cheques, presented by Prof. Manticayan, alongside Supervising Science Research Specialist (SRS) Alimudin M. Kandang, PhD, Senior SRS Engr. Shariff Molzir Ampatuan Bernan, and SRS II Datu Alhamdeh Aaron F. Balawag.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Kandang reminded the grantees of the importance of timely submission of their academic requirements each semester to avoid delays in receiving their allowances. He also encouraged the scholars to aim high and study diligently to fully realize the potential of Bangsamoro youth in shaping a brighter future.
