Davao City – As part of the ongoing efforts to establish the Bangsamoro Science High School System in the region, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), in collaboration with the Board of Trustees (BOT), held its 4th BOT meeting on September 5, 2024, at Bajada Suites in this city.

Attending the meeting were BOT members, along with officials from MOST and the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), including BOT Chairperson and MOST Minister Engr. Aida Silongan, Vice Chairperson and MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal, Committee on Science and Technology Chairperson MP Suharto Ismael, MSU System President Atty.

Basari Mapupuno, Interim Campus Director and Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim, Bangsamoro Mufti Sheik Abdulrauf Guialani, as well as other Technical Working Group (TWG) members. The TWG members present included Director II Nasrodin U. Buisan, Chief Administrative Officer Ramla Bituanan-Lantong, Atty. Norhussien Lauban, Atty. Warda Santiago, Supervising SRS Sittie Benazir Ulama, and other staff.

 

In her opening remarks, MOST Minister and BOT Chairperson Silongan outlined the key agenda points for the 4th BOT meeting.

 

“We will provide updates on our progress, discuss our current status, and outline the remaining tasks that require attention. Our aim is to reach a collective decision on the next steps before proceeding with the significant work required for the establishment of our science high school,” Minister Silongan emphasized.

 

Key topics discussed included the designation of a concurrent interim campus director, a review of the campus development plan, updates on human resource hiring, policy updates, infrastructure development, and potential amendments to the law.

 

The meeting concluded with discussions on other important matters, including the schedule for the next BOT meeting.

 

MOST and BOT members reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the strategy for implementing the BSHS system in the region is effectively translated into reality.
