To support micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises through technology intervention, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology turned over processing equipment and renovated production area valued at Php2,370,000.00 to six (6) cooperatives in Lanao del Sur, Bangsamoro Autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao.
On October 18-19, 2023, the MOST Regional Office, together with Provincial S & T Center – LDS, facilitated the activity for MSMEs to upgrade their production lines, adopt technology interventions, and adhere to good manufacturing practices.
Prof. Hashim Manticayan, Executive Assistant III, and Engr. Alinader Saranggani, PSTC-LDS Head, led the turnover ceremony. Additionally, members of each cooperative were present at this significant event.
The cooperatives that benefited from the interventions were Ompongan o Mga Muslimat Producers Cooperative, engaged in Turmeric Powder Making; Pindolonan Women Producer Cooperative – Native Coffee; Ditsaan – Ramain Islamic Service Cooperative – Maranao Delicacies; Ikram Agriculture Cooperative – Mushroom Crackers; Min-Ranao Halal Spices Producer Cooperative – Powdered Palapa; and Kapai Mustaqbal Women’s Consumer Cooperative – Salabat (ginger tea).
In the turnover ceremony, Engr. Saranggani, encouraged the cooperatives to be determined and continually improve their business operations.
“Let us embrace this new chapter with unwavering determination, knowing that our success lies not just in the equipment we possess but, in the passion, and dedication to the improvement of our cooperative. We aim to produce quality food for our clients.”
Sittie Aireen C. Lomangcolob, one of the members, expressed her gratitude for the intervention given to them.
“Having this cooperative and its people is a gift from Allah (swt). We started at the bottom where the Marawi siege happened and challenged ourselves to make something that the Bangsamoro will be proud of. It is not an easy road for us, but, alhamdulillah, with the help of MOST, the burden was lightened, and we will always be grateful to you (MOST) and, above all, to Allah.”
MOST continually supported MSMEs to help them improve their production lines, produce products that are safe and of quality, and adhere to the minimum requirements set by the Food and Drug Administration for food manufacturing.
This program is under the MOST Technology Transfer and Commercialization aiming to provide technology assistance for MSMEs, such as technology trainings, provision of processing equipment, renovation of production area, product development through the acquisition of standard packaging and labeling, halal testing and analysis, and application to FDA-License to Operate.
