Cotabato City, BARMM – To promote the adoption of technologies and enhance skills among micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the Bangsamoro Government provided technology training to four (4) cooperatives in Cotabato City. The training aimed to equip these cooperatives with new skills and technologies.

From September 26 to 29, 2023, Kuya Dan and Friends Special Lumpia Wrapper, Nurhamza Creamy Peanut Butter, Umpungan nu mga Babay sa Bagua 2 (UBB2), and Yams Premium Ice Candy underwent training sessions where they were introduced to new equipment and technologies provided by MOST. Topics covered during the separate training included lumpia wrapper making, peanut butter processing, bulwa making, and ice candy production.

The training activities were designed to enhance the knowledge, capacity, and skills of cooperative members and sole proprietors, enabling them to produce products more efficiently and quickly.

Additionally, it aimed to boost food processing and production through the infusion of technologies to help alleviate poverty, accelerate growth and development, and create livelihood opportunities in the region.

This training was facilitated by the Cotabato S & T Center (CSTC) and led by Norhaya Sumaluyan, Senior Science Research Specialist, accompanied by Andrew Aron, Science Research Specialist II, and other staff members.

CSTC Head Sumaluyan encouraged the cooperatives to fully utilize the processing equipment provided to increase production and profitability. She also emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the training.

“The training provided to you reflects MOST’s commitment to supporting our MSMEs in developing and enhancing their products, as well as equipping their workforce with the knowledge and skills needed to improve operational efficiency within their organizations,” Sumaluyan said.

Meanwhile, Danny Maghanoy, President of Kuya Dan and Friends Special Lumpia Wrapper, expressed gratitude to the ministry for the support and training provided to them.

“Lubos kaming nagpapasalamat sa Ministry of Science and Technology sa pangunguna ni Minister Engr. Aida M. Silongan sa pagbibigay sa amin ng ganitong Training at Panibagong kagamitan para mas mapabilis ang aming produksion sa pag gawa ng aming mga produkto. Nawa’y magtagumpay at marami pang matulungan ang MOST para umangat ang aming maliliit na negosyo sa Cotabato City.” Maghanoy said.
