Cotabato City, BARMM – In a crucial phase towards acquiring International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification, twenty-two (22) chosen employees participated in a training workshop on ISO 9001:2015 Root Cause Analysis (RCA) at EM Manor Hotel and Convention Center on June 24-25, 2024.

The two-day training aimed to impart knowledge and skills on quality management system principles and the continual improvement framework, focusing on problem-solving and analysis. Participants learned to identify and analyze the root causes non-conformities within the organization, formulate correction and corrective actions, implement them, and verify their effectiveness.

Ms. Faida Latip, TESD QMS Lead Auditor and resource speaker, emphasized the importance of performing effective RCA. “Organizations must collaborate with teams, eliminate the cause of the problem, not blame people as much as possible, keep your questions open-ended, facilitate the process, and focus on correcting and remedying root causes,” Ms. Latip said.

She also shared that in conducting audits, when auditors identify any non-conformities, the organization must react with correction action, determine the root cause, develop a corrective action, implement the corrective action, and review the effectiveness of the corrective action. Correction action is an action taken to eliminate nonconformity, while corrective action is an action taken to remove the cause of non-conformities.

Participants learned substantial content specifically related to the ISO 9001:2015 requirements on corrective action, RCA and problem-solving fundamentals, RCA tools and techniques, identifying root causes, applying RCA tools, verifying effectiveness, controlling non-conforming outputs, and other clauses in ISO 9001. The training also included workshops, case studies, and quizzes to apply and evaluate learnings.

The RCA training enables participants to effectively use practical tools and techniques for analyzing and validating the root cause of nonconformities and formulating solutions to prevent nonconformities from recurring or occurring.

Through a series of ISO 9001:2015 trainings, MOST ensures that its employees are fully oriented about the principles of QMS and clauses in ISO 9001:2015 for application and certification, achieving an organization that adheres to a quality management system to benefit the organization and meet customer satisfaction.
