To strengthen the collaboration efforts on combatting malnutrition in the Bangsamoro region, Minister Aida Silongan and DOST-FNRI Director Imelda Agdeppa have discussed the programs and projects of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute to be continuously implemented in BARMM.
On April 18, 2021, both officials committed to boost and support the FNRI’s PPAs to help reduce malnutrition and improve the locality’s health and nutrition status.
They have also discussed the complimentary food facilities instituted at Sulu State College, Jolo, Sulu, and Local Government Unit (LGU) Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi, where facilities are expected to operationalize this year.
Minister Silongan said that the Science and Technology Services of the ministry ensure the full implementation of FNRI’s projects. She also emphasized that the iron-fortified rice and Nutribun will be provided for families that need such nutritious foods and address iron deficiency among children and other health and nutrition issues.
Director Agdeppa extended her gratitude to MOST for continuously supporting FNRI’s undertakings to help children who have less access to nutritious foods and could address vitamin deficiencies and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
