Cotabato City, BARMM — The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) turned over today, September 27, 2022, sets of laboratory apparatus to six (6) schools in this city.

Cotabato City National High School – Rojas, CCNHS –Main Campus, Cotabato State University – Laboratory High School, Coland System Technology, Shariff Kabunsuan College, and Dr. P. Ocampo College were the beneficiaries. Principals/representatives were present for the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), signing and receiving the laboratory apparatus.

Minister Aida Silongan, Bureau of Basic Education Director Johnny Balawag, MOST Bangsamoro Director-General Abdulrakman Asim, MBHTE BDG Abdullah Salik, Jr., Acting Division School’s Superintendent Hadja Sarapia Talapas and other officials led the turn-over of laboratory apparatus.

In a statement, Minister Silongan said that the provision of laboratory apparatus is the support of MOST to the science education system in the region, aiming to produce numerous S & T human resources and help students improve their knowledge and skills.

“It is our way of supporting the science education system in the region, so we can produce numerous S & T human resources that would help in the socio-economic development and a progressive Bangsamoro region.” Minister Silongan said.

She added that it would help improve their knowledge and skills and motivate students to grow and learn more.

“The provision of laboratory apparatus to public and private schools will help encourage and entice our students and teachers to undergo more experiments and other laboratory activities,” Minister added.

Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” Matabalao and other guests also gave a message of support.

MOST Science Education, Scholarships, and Grants ensured that upgrading the science education system through STARBOOKS digital library and laboratory apparatus would be implemented, especially in those schools with less equipment and capacity and in remote areas. It also strengthens the ministry’s goal of developing and producing S & T human resources for the Bangsamoro region.

The project aims to boost the knowledge and interest of senior high school students in science, particularly in conducting investigatory projects, student research, and experiments. It also encourages more students to take up STEM strand courses.
