The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) P247-M budget proposal for the fiscal year 2023 was approved during the Mother Committee Budget Hearing at BTA Session Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

On December 12, 2022, the Bangsamoro Parliament’s Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management, chaired by MP Architect Eduard Guerra, approved it.

Minister Aida Silongan, Deputy Minister Edzel Mohammad Jilhano, Bangsamoro-Director General Abdulrakman Asim, directors, division chiefs, and some section heads were present during the said budget hearing.

MP Anna Tarhata Basman, Sub-Committee Chair, presented the MOST Physical and Financial Accomplishment Report from 2020 to 2022 and the proposed budget. The presented budget will continuously implement the programs and projects of the ministry for 2023, such as research and development, advanced science and technology, S & T services, science education grants, and Bangsamoro Standards and Halal Testing Laboratories.

An additional P49,500,000 budget was also approved for MOST to support additional scholarship grants, implement research and development services, and improve BSHTL’s laboratory services.

Furthermore, Minister Silongan has thanked the Parliament Members who support the increased budget. She emphasized that the budget approved and the additional increase will surely benefit the Bangsamoro.

MOST, as the region’s science, technology, and innovation arm, will continue and heighten its effort to support and uplift the living standard of the Bangsamoro people through its mandate and with allegiance to moral governance.
