The Ministry of Science and Technology – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOST-BARMM) has allocated a P12M fund for this year’s researches.
Last October 2021, under the BARMM Research and Development Agenda, the R & D section called for proposals focusing on the priority areas such as Basic Research for Development, Agriculture, Aquatic, & Natural Resources; Health, Industry, Energy & Emerging Technology; Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation; and Culture & Heritage.
Engr. Moammer Tabara, MOST R & D Head, confirmed that the technical review committee had received a total of thirty-four (34) researches on its submission’s last day.
“We are glad that Bangsamoro researchers are keen on submitting researches aiming to address the pressing needs of the region in pursuit of scientific endeavor through R & D for the Bangsamoro people,” Tabara said.
Fredric Cadungog, R & D Science Research Specialist II, shared that the R & D Proposals will undergo an evaluation process that may take at least one month.
“We are currently evaluating the submitted proposals if aligned with the BARMM R & D Agenda. The technical experts’ panel will evaluate all proposals this month of November,” Cadungog said.
Once proposals have passed through technical evaluation, the R & D committee will review the proposals focusing on the administrative part. It will be the final and approving stage of the evaluation process.
The R & D fund for each research amounts up to P1,000,000.00. The support depends on the soundness of the budget and approval of the R & D Committee.
Moreover, researches are required to be feasible for a maximum of six (6) months.
More than ten (10) researches are expected to receive R & D funding support from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
