Three (3) personnel under the Ministry of Science and Technology’s S & T Services (STS) Division attended the training workshop on the application of Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) protocol for all concerned DOST personnel nationwide at Hortz Hotels and Resorts, Tagaytay City.

On March 21-24, 2023, the activity aimed to train all DOST Provincial S & T Centers (PSTC) personnel on applying Technology Needs Assessment (TNA), defining its principles and core business functions, and interpreting the results of TNA, and develop a report.

Bea Hannah Kashmira Midtimbang, Science Research Specialist II, Aleyyah G. Abdul, SRS I, and Bai Samera Gumandel, Project Technical Assistant, participated in the training workshop.

Ms. Midtimbang shared that the training conducted is relevant to improve TNA’s application in working with the beneficiaries of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the region.

“This training will help us improve in conducting Technology Needs Assessment to our MSMEs in the Bangsamoro region. We would be able to help improve enterprises’ development and management,” Midtimbang shared.

They are also expected to replicate the knowledge gained during the workshop to the MOST-PSTC personnel in the region.

Furthermore, the participants also visited Swisspharma’s Food Plant at Cabuyao, Laguna and La Noceda Food Products, Inc. at Mendez, Cavite, to conduct a TNA. The participants were divided into five groups to conduct a field visit on different sites. A TNA report was formulated and presented during the training workshop.

Also present in the said training was the DOST FNRI Executive Director Imelda Agdeppa, former DOST FNRI Director Mario V. Capanzana and Dr. Milflor S. Gonzales, OIC Deputy Director and Chief Science Research Specialist.

The Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Tool is the instrument that will identify the technology‐related strengths and weaknesses of an enterprise and technology gaps within its operation and recommend appropriate S & T interventions and other forms of assistance that may be provided for successful enterprise development and management.
