COTABATO CITY – More than fifty (50) employees of the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the Gender and Conflict Sensitivity Orientation at PAGANA Kutawato on May 7, 2021.

The activity aims to raise awareness about gender issues and work towards creating an enabling environment of gender justice.

“We shall integrate Gender and Development in our programs and projects harmonizing our religious beliefs to empower our beneficiaries, both men and women.” Minister Aida Silongan said.

The one-day activity focused mainly on session topics such as Unpacking Sex and Gender: Sex vs gender, biological determinism, gender roles and responsibilities, stereotyping, political insubordination, economic marginalization, gender division of labor, multiple burden and violence against women; Gender Peace and Conflict; International and Legal Mandates, and Gender in the Context of Islam.

The Gender and Conflict Sensitivity Orientation is an initial effort to show how gender shapes the roles of women and men in society, including their role in the development and how it affects the relationship between them. It is given to those who have very little gender awareness or none at all.
