The Ministry of Science and Technology – RXBOX 1000 Project Regional Team conducted Clinical Acceptance Test for eleven (11) telemedicine devices on October 21-22, 2021, at MOST-BARMM Office, Cotabato City. It is in line with the final evaluation of RXBoxes deployment to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in the BARMM region.
This initiative aims to ensure telemedicine devices have passed the clinical acceptance test ready for use before deployment.
Yzel Andrew Aron, Registered Nurse and Regional Training Coordinator under the project said the MOST would be deploying the first 11 units of telemedicine devices to RHUs in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.
“We conducted a device re-testing to ensure that the RXBox devices to be deployed in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur are calibrated accurately for vital signs reading, capturing and monitoring of patients’ different health concerns. This telemedicine device ensures and provides healthcare technologies and assistance to isolated areas in the region.”
The Clinical Acceptance Test (CAT) is crucial before deploying RXBoxes to rural health units to check if calibrations for vital signs, ECG, EFM reading and others are efficient and accurate. It is the final evaluation before its deployment to identified rural health units.
The telemedicine devices are ready for deployment this coming December 2021 to identified rural health units in the provinces mentioned above. There will be another batch of telemedicine devices to be tested and deployed to other areas in the region.
The RXBox can capture blood pressure, pulse oximation, measure body temperature, and assess uterine contraction strength during delivery. It can also detect distress to both mother and baby using maternal tocometer, measures fetal heart rate using fetal heart monitor, and monitors tracing of hearts movement that detects diseases using ECG. It also has an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), storing and referring clients’ medical records via the internet to doctors and health specialists seeking consultation and medical advice.
RxBox is a multi-component program (biomedical device, electronic medical record system, and telemedicine training) designed to provide better access to life-saving health care services in isolated and disadvantaged communities nationwide.
