COTABATO CITY – Seventy-three (73) Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) Program grantees from Maguindanao, North Cotabato, and Cotabato City take an oath, January 7, 2021, at Shariff Kabungsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC), Bangsamoro Government. BARMM’s Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, MOST’s Minister Aida Silongan, MBHTE’s Minister Mohagher Iqbal, BARMM’s Mufti Sheik Abu Huraira Udasan, MOST employees, and parent’s of grantees attend the said activity.

Minister Silongan says, ” Our mission of launching this program is to promote science education and encourage the number of students who will enroll in science courses, generate a pool of science enthusiasts who will later become researchers in their respective fields of interest, and create more science professionals, researchers, inventors and innovators that will join the Bangsamoro workforce to help spin the wheel of economic development through science, technology, and innovations.”

BARMM’s Chief Minister Ebrahim, MBHTE’s Minister Iqbal, and Grand Mufti Udasan also inspire messages during the event.

The seventy-three (73) grantees from Maguindanao, North Cotabato, and Cotabato City receive cash assistance amounting to PHP 40,000.00, covering the five (5) months of cash assistance for the school year 2020 (August to December).

There will also be mass oath-taking for grantees from Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi to be conducted by the ministry to respective provinces this month.

A total of one-hundred twenty-six (126) grantees in the BARMM region will be given cash assistance by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The MOST Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) Program is a scholarship program offered by the Ministry of Science and Technology – BARMM under the Science Education, Grants and Scholarship Section. This scholarship is offered to incoming first-year college students who intend to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) courses. To avail of the BASE program, applicants should pass the BASE program examination and pursue a Bachelor of Science degree program in any state university or colleges’ priority fields in any private higher education institution recognized by the Commission on Higher Education. Eligible awardees will receive monthly cash assistance amounting to Php 8,000.00.
