Cotabato City, BARMM — The Ministry of Science and Technology – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOST-BARMM) officially kicked off its second Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW). The activity is slated at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center, in this city on December 1-2, 2022.

The two-day event highlighted and showcased MOST initiatives and programs. It also aimed to promote science and technology endeavors to support the region’s economic growth.

Minister Aida Silongan highlighted the milestones of the ministry’s major programs in the opening program and strengthened its efforts.

“The ministry has continuously heightened its plans and efforts to prioritize research, inventions, scientific and technological advancement, science education, and other development to benefit the Bangsamoro,” Minister said.

This year’s theme bears “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan” MOST conducted webinars, quiz bees, recognition of the success of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), inventors and technopreneurs and much more.

Nine successful MSMEs and inventors/technopreneurs were recognized and awarded during the opening program. It was one of the highlights of the Bangsamoro RSTW.

In the afternoon, a techno-talk on Introduction to Halal Certification, Patent Application for Innovators and Inventors, Talk on Innovation, and Turbo Rice Steamer (Utility Model) were zoom discussed.

Furthermore, Science Education, Scholarships, and Grants Division conducted the science quiz bee.

Albert Einstein School got 1st place, 2nd place by Notre Dame Village National High School, and Notre Dame Cotabato got third place.

On the second day event, MOST newly hired and promoted employees took their oath for moral governance.

Awarding of laboratory apparatus to the science high school was also held in the culminating activity.

In the closing program, Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim emphasized that MOST has aligned its programs and projects to the national agenda to contribute significantly to the region’s economic growth and uplift the living standard of the Bangsamoro people.

“We strengthen our science, technology, and innovation efforts to contribute significantly to the region’s economic growth.

“This is our manifestation in the MOST; our projects and programs were aligned to the national agenda concerning S & T to boost the region’s inclusive development.” He added.

The BARMM RSTW 2022 concluded with enthusiasm and joy from different regional sectoral participants.

The RSTW is an annual celebration highlighting the significant contributions of science and technology and has become a platform for heralding S & T programs and advocacy in the region.
