In a move to sustain research and development initiatives in the region, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology conducted another series of consultations on the Harmonized BARMM Research and Development Agenda in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

The event, which took place at Macapodi Bistro Function Hall on November 16, 2023, aimed to engage representatives from the Academe, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), business and industry sectors, and government ministries/offices. The objective was to identify and prioritize key R & D areas in BARMM for 2025-2030, fostering collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders to enhance the R & D ecosystem in the region.

Participants from the academe included Adiong Memorial Polytechnic State College, Mindanao State University – Marawi, and Datu Mala Muslim Mindanao Islamic College Foundation, Inc. Business sectors and civil society organizations (CSOs) were represented by IKRAM Agriculture Cooperative, Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society, Kalimudan sa Ranao Foundation Inc., and Maranao People Development Center Inc. – MARADECA.

The consultation comprised presentations, panel discussions, group discussions, and brainstorming sessions, facilitating the drafting of a new agenda that incorporates emerging challenges, needs, and opportunities. By involving key stakeholders, the consultations aimed to ensure inclusivity, relevance, and alignment with the regional goals and objectives.

The resulting output of the new Harmonized Research and Development Agenda will reflect the needs and aspirations of the Bangsamoro people, serving as a guiding framework for sustainable development and progress in the region.
