Sulu, BARMM – To facilitate the scholarship grants for official qualifiers in this province, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology administered the oath-taking ceremony for thirty-seven (37) students on September 27, 2023, at Sulu National High School in the Municipality of Patikul.
The official grantees were recipients of the MOST Scholarship Programs, namely, the Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) and BASE-Merit.
MOST Deputy Minister Engr. Edsel M. Jilhano administered the oath-taking of the grantees, accompanied by Rocaya Edres, LPT, Chief Science Research Specialist, and Nodura Halil, Provincial Scholarship Focal.
Engr. Jilhano served as the keynote speaker and emphasized to the new grantees not to forget their faith in Almighty Allah (SWT) for guidance and success in their educational journey.
“Congratulations to all of you for achieving these milestones! Continue to pursue your goals, and never forget to have faith in Almighty Allah for guidance and success in your chosen field,” Engr. Jilhano emphasized.
Meanwhile, BASE Grantee Mr. Surmie I. Undong, BASE-Merit Grantee Mohammad Murad A. Alil, and Parent Hadji Masukud Andal expressed their gratitude to the ministry.
“We are grateful for these scholarship programs granted to us because they will help us achieve our careers in Science and Technology,” Undong said.
Chief Edres advised the grantees to strive for high grades in their studies to help achieve the ministry’s goal of producing highly competitive Bangsamoro Scientists across the region.
“We have high hopes for you. MOST believes that your achievements in these scholarship programs will lead to great success in the future. Strive for high grades in your chosen S & T courses and remain diligent,” Edres said.
Throughout their academic careers, BASE grantees will receive monthly cash assistance amounting to P8,000.00, and BASE-Merit grantees will receive P20,000.00.
