SGA, BARMM — To bolster Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises through technology development and intervention, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology turned over processing equipmentvalued P1,200,000.00to the Carmen Agricultural Resource and Development Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CARDMPC) in the Municipality of Carmen, North Cotabato – Special Geographic Area.
On August 8, 2023, the MOST Special Development Fund facilitated the turnover of processing equipment to provide start-up S & T-based livelihood opportunities, assist MSMEs in upgrading their production lines, and leveraging technological advancement to extract higher value from the region’s abundant raw materials.
CARDMPC has received a blending machine and other packages to develop and enhance its product supply. Specifically, the cooperative will produce complementary food such as rice iron-fortified to supply and support feeding program initiatives in the Bangsamoro region.
MOST Minister Engr. Aida Silongan, MAPDS, Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Director-General and SDF Project Manager, Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, Member of the Parliament and MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal, Honorable Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza, Governor-Province of Cotabato, Hon. Rogelio “Roger” T. Taliño, Hon. Gil Ortiz Dondonayos, Barangay Chairman, and other dignitaries graced the turnover ceremony.
In the opening activity, Minister Silongan said that the initiative to assist the CARDMPC was for them to supply rice iron-fortified products to help combat malnutrition among children in the region and support the feeding program of the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) and other linkages.
“Ang proyektong ito ay naconceptualize dahil sa hangarin nating mabigyan at magkaroon ng nutritional value ang kinakain ng ating mga kabataan dito sa rehiyon. Ating sinusuportahan ang feeding program ng MBHTE para sa mga kabataang nag-aaral sa mga mababang paaralan upang maibsan ang malnutrisyon,” Minister said.
[This project was conceptualized because of our desire to give and have nutritional food value for our young people here in the region. We support MBHTE’s feeding program for elementary students to alleviate malnutrition.]Meanwhile, Engr. Ali emphasized that the project given to CARDMPC was a commitment towards the betterment of different beneficiaries, providing livelihood opportunities for Bangsamoro people, and aiming at enhancing local capacities and stimulating sustainable growth.
“We are happy that the blending machine was handed over and utilized by our beneficiaries. We are steadfast to our commitment to develop, provide interventions, and assist our Bangsamoro communities to enhance local capacities and stimulate development,” Engr. Ali said.
Through a message of acceptance, Nasser Ali, CARDMPC Chairman, thanked and appreciated the effort and initiatives of the Bangsamoro Government gave through MOST SDF.
