Lanao del Sur, BARMM – Forty-nine qualifiers of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) and BASE-Merit Scholarship Programs took an oath and received cash grants on September 21, 2023, at Datu Saber Multi-Purpose Center, in this province. Twenty-nine BASE scholarship grants and twenty Merit-based scholarships were awarded to students who qualified for these programs.

MOST Bangsamoro Director-General Engr. Abdulrakman Asim administered the oath-taking ceremony, accompanied by Chief Science Research Specialist Rocaya Edres, LPT, and PSTC Provincial Director Engr. Alinader Saranggani. BDG Asim encouraged the future Bangsamoro scientists to excel in their chosen careers and to remain focused on their educational goals.

“This is our time to shine, the time when you should excel in science and technology through an excellent educational journey so that you can contribute positively to the economic growth of BARMM in the future,” BDG said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Al-hussien Ibra, a BASE Pioneer, also delivered an inspirational message to his fellow grantees. “We are very thankful for these scholarship programs from MOST. We will ensure to excel in our chosen courses and focus on our educational journey. Thank you so much, MOST!” Ibra emphasized.

Throughout their educational journey, BASE grantees will receive monthly cash assistance amounting to P8,000.00, and BASE-Merit grantees will receive P20,000.00.

The Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) of Lanao del Sur spearheaded the event, which was also attended by Supervising Science Research Specialist Alimudin M. Kandang, Senior Science Research Specialist Engr. Shariff Molzir Ampatuan Bernan, and Science Research Specialist II Datu Alhamdeh Aaron F. Balawag.
