BASILAN – Five (5) identified cooperatives benefitted in the Technology Training on Food Safety cum Halal Awareness provided by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on October 3-5, 2021, at Tipo-Tipo Gymnasium, Tipo-Tipo Municipality. The training aims to capacitate Technology Transfer and Commercialization Program (TTCP) beneficiaries with knowledge, understanding, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Halal compliance.
The five identified cooperatives were recipients of the Science and Technology Livelihood Assistance Program (STLAP) and Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises – Upgrading Program (MSMEs-Up) under the Technology Transfer and Commercialization Program (TTCP) of the ministry. The recipients under STLAP were Sapah Bulak Women Services Cooperative, Tipo-Tipo Farmers Association, Apil-Apil Fishermen Cooperative, and Ulitan Bangsamoro Fishermen Cooperative. In contrast, the recipient under MSMEs-UP was Jezreel Coffee Enterprise. They were all engaged in food processing such as peanut butter processing, chili powder processing, fish processing, and coffee processing, correspondingly.
Three cooperatives were also given processing equipment that would help and speed up the processing and production of their raw materials. Other cooperatives will receive equipment as to follow.
Meanwhile, the inspection team checked the processing equipment to ensure completeness according to the technical specifications set. Badria Lidasan, Chief of Staff, and Nadiah Abdulrahman, Internal Auditor, inspected the processing equipment before the turn-over.
MOST-BARMM continues its efforts to provide processing equipment for the cooperatives to support and upgrade their production lines, receive more profit in their business, and other assistance. They continually support TTCP recipients through S & T training, consultancy, and technology intervention to assist them in complying with CGMP, HACCP, and Halal- requirements.
