North Cotabato – SGA, BARMM — To equip knowledge, skills, and good manufacturing practices, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Science and Technology conducted simultaneous training for three (3) coops in the province.

On September 6-8, 2022, the Carmen Agricultural Resources and Development Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CARDMPC), Asatids Magungaya Association (AMA), and Bandara Kadingilan Women’s Association benefitted from technology training, food safety, halal awareness, and packaging & labelling training of the ministry.

The said activity aims to equip micro, small, and medium enterprises with knowledge and ideas to process raw materials into marketable products. It is also to ensure cooperatives adhere to good manufacturing practices, apply food safety, be halal-compliant and know the standard on product packaging and labelling.

Collaborating with the Department of Trade and Industry – Region 12 and the University of Southern Mindanao – Extension Services Center, CARDMPC was trained about virgin coconut oil production.

Marivic D. Candari, Ed.D from the University of Southern Mindanao, Chemistry Department, and the Department Chair Estrella Dela Cruz were the VCO Production resource person.

Meanwhile, AMA and BKWA were trained in Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, Halal Awareness, and Packaging & Labelling.

The said activity was under the Ministry’s Technology Transfer and Commercialization Program, which aims to ensure MSMEs, would adhere to standard practices that will improve and upgrade their products, acquire Food and Drug Administration’s License to Operate, and complies with Halal requirements.

The ministry aims to help cooperatives and other people’s organizations commercialize their products adhering to minimum requirements set by the Food and Drug Administration.
